At Mongrel Creek, Larry Schoppe's primary focus is on producing quality wine at an affordable price. The cellar door building is rustic-pretty and charming.
Larry is not afraid to offer something different and there's an interesting selection of wines.
There's a Sagrantino, which is a rare find and has been a challenge to grow in the vineyard. The last time I was there, I was also pleasantly surprised by an aged Sauvignon Blanc, a wine type that you normally expect to drink young and fresh.
A review of Mongrel Creek's Sagrantino will be coming on WineVine WA in the near future.
